Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 includes comprehensive tools for hardware inventory, software inventory and metering, software distribution and installation, and remote troubleshooting.

In addition to the server license for the SMS software, Microsoft requires a Configuration Management License (CML) for each device that is managed by SMS. A device can be a single server, single personal computer, workstation, terminal, handheld computer, pager, telephone, personal digital assistant, or other electronic device.

Note: This license does not require media.
